Human Potential
Human Potential is a Force-Using Tradition.
Philosophy
There are those who see the Force as a non-spiritual entity, and explain the powers of Jedi and Sith merely as the extremes of human potential. The human body may be limited, but the mind is unlimited, capable of understanding forces and realities far greater than its host brain, of recreating the tiniest and grandest of physical phenomenon within its confines, and of imagining hitherto undiscovered realities. As such, it is well equipped to stretch the fabric of reality, and in such a vast Universe, over such time, it was inevitable such power would be discovered. Those who seek to find the extent of Human Potential scoff at the notion of an ingrained morality in their power; they are usually motivated to advance their ability, sometimes recklessly, simply to see how far it will go. In this way, they are not unlike Sith.
Mechanics
Practitioners of this tradition use Intelligence for Use the Force checks.
Also, they gain the following abilities: Hypercognition, Acceleration, Combat Analysis, Neurokinetic Enhancement, Overclock.
Hypercognition
- You have an attribute called Hypercognition, whose value is 3 + 1 per 4 levels.
- It represents your ability to push your mind beyond its normal limits, to various effects.
- As a free action, you can divide your Hypercognition score between Acceleration, Combat Analysis, and Neurokinetic Enhancement.
- The total of all points spent must not exceed your Hypercognition score. It may be lower, or even zero, but not negative.
Acceleration
You accelerate your mind, making the whole Universe seem to slow down to a crawl. Your body is no faster, but you are able to process input faster, giving you much more time to take in and react to your surroundings.
For each point of Hypercognition spent in Acceleration, you gain +2 to Perception, +1 to Reflex Defense, and +1 to Initiative.
Combat Analysis
You hone your mind to analyze patterns, predict movement, and react to threats. You can process many factors simultaneously, such as wind speed, gravity, and relative movement. The practical effect is to enhance your offensive abilities.
For each point of Hypercognition spent in Combat Analysis, you gain +1 to attack rolls and Use the Force checks to inflict harm or hindrance upon enemies.
Neurokinetic Enhancement
You push your nervous system to its limit, forcing your body to react beyond specification. Your muscles react faster, and twitch harder.
For each point of Hypercognition, you gain +1 to Speed and +2 to Acrobatics checks. If using a melee weapon, you gain +1 to damage rolls.
Overclock
All uses of Hypercognition stretch your nervous system beyond its normal limits. Even with practice, your system can endure only so much. Normally, you operate within safe limits; however, you may choose to push yourself beyond those limits for brief periods.
By spending a Force Point as an immediate action, you may choose any one category, and until the start of your next turn, you treat that category as if you had spent double your normal Hypercognition total on it.
